A good start for student writing
I enjoy how there are different options in general to help select the right prompt for the student. Categories surrounding the situation, setting, characters, etc. are all helpful to help students start thinking. However, the options are set so every student has to use these, meaning they are not customizable down to the liking of a specific student. I also think the "better words" section is a great idea, leaving easy access for kids to find adjectives and substitutes to the word they are thinking of directly.

Easy to use, but is not a complete writing tool.
I really like the option for students to choose a new situation, character, setting, and/or object to start. For certain students, this ability to choose would easily turn into an issue where a student is really just procrastinating or just spends too much time deciding. This can easily be remedied by setting a time limit (not a part of the app). The Better Words area is a nice first stop as a thesaurus, and could inspire students to try new vocabulary. The Hard to Spell area fells limiting because it appears to be aimed at too high a grade level and wouldn't be as helpful for many students in lower grades. It is labeled as a 1st-8th grade app, but I can see it most effective in a 2nd-5th. For higher grades it could still be useful for struggling students.

Super easy to set up and use!
This is good to give students writing practice. It is not really customizable other than allowing you to pick a different category from the main categories (situation, characters, setting, and objects). You can have it pick an instant prompt, or you can select items from each category. An additional feature that is included is a built in thesaurus with a list of words and synonyms that go with them. Also, it includes a list of misspelled words. The thesaurus and list of misspelled words can help students. What I like about this is that students can work on it individually at their own level and can customize their individual story and add better words and check their spelling. I do not like that it is not customizable. It can help teaching by individualizing writing, letting students work independently, and ease of use by students.

Sparking imagination
An ok app that could be used to prompt those students who have a difficult time coming up with story ideas. I like the better words portion of the app, it's a thesaurus where children can find alternative words for the common ones they tend to use in their writing. This app would be fun for oral whole group storytelling, where the teacher can maintain focus on the story part as I found my kids got lost exploring in the app.
