A good product. I do not especially care for the social aspect of it (I do not care about what links other people are saving).

This product is not so much a "teaching tool" as it is a great accessory to have as a teacher. It is very easy to use and set up with a simple, effective layout.

Delicious is a great tool for tracking web resources. It lends itself to group projects and collections created for the entire class. It is a social bookmarking system. I find Delicious to be like breadcrumbs of a research project. Each web resource is logged and can be preserved for future review. Projects can include the creation of the link collections or a review of the content. I enjoyed the ease of the bookmarking. Delicious allows for scriptlets and other integrations in the browser. The convenience of the process is important.

Great to use with students so they never have to remember websites or be redirected to other websites if they make a mistake typing the URL. It has been updated quite a bit lately and unfortunately past updates allow users to be connected to other users, which may be an issue for younger students. However benefits far outweigh the cons especially if you train your students well. Very easy to use plus you can put a tool on your browser so you don't need to constantly log in when saving links.

Students find information on the Web, but then don't know an efficient way to curate it. They bookmark EVERYTHING or they copy & paste URLs into word docs & save to their desktops in files ("Science Project"). Delicious is one of many tools to help them learn how to curate their Web resources. It's similar to Pinterest. The toolbar add-on button makes it easy to add sites to your Delicious account with one click. Adding tags is crucial to the sorting & finding capabilities of Delicious.
