Invaluable SEL resource!
Community Review for Wayfinder
My Take
My favorite Wayfinder feature is the activity library, where I have been in a pinch and have needed an activity and can just search by theme. I have entered search terms like respect, integrity, goals, cyberbullying, fairness, etc., and it produces a number of teaching options listed by suggested age/grade. This has been a lifesaver more than once for me! There are also sets of lessons bundled by theme, ready made for any counselor or teacher. Our middle schoolers especially love the workbooks where they can do guided journaling, as well.
How I Use It
Our school uses Wayfinder with every grade level (K-12), from short mini-lessons that match our weekly theme in our Division-specific (lower, middle, upper) assemblies to targeted classroom interventions (such as a current series of lessons we brought to our 4th graders on respect and on upstander responses, to target some behaviors this particular group was having). Teachers can weave the pre-written activities and lessons into their classrooms each week. In the middle and upper school levels, the activities and lessons are used in advisory and seminar classes, by teachers looking for thematic activities that match what they are teaching (English and Social Studies have both done so in the past week), as well as in clubs and for the student leadership group. Our teachers have embraced Wayfinder not only for the ease of using it, but for the quality of the activities themselves.
