My Take
This app allows students to see what NASA uses to explore space in 3D with virtual reality. You do need to print out the marker, which can be found in the app and at the website. Select the spacecraft you would like to see, then view the marker until the spacecraft appears. If you use the manual option, you can move the device away from the marker to look at the craft. Most of the spacecrafts have movable parts that can be controlled with the app. This is a fun way to introduce a unit on space or robotics. There is no deep learning by using the app, that comes with the questions or activities you create after the students use the app.
How I Use It
I have used this app as an introductory activity for different classes and units of study. For example, I have used it to start a brainstorming session for a basic programming class. Students interacted with the robotic rover Curiosity on the app. As a class we discussed what problems the rover may experience on Mars and how the programmers may have dealt with it.
