Great content and resources
Community Review for Smithsonian's History Explorer
My Take
I think this resource would be a great teaching tool. It provides teachers and students with primary sources and contextual information that is quite valuable. It also has questions and other prompts that help make this easily implementable as a lesson. It also provides educators with ample material to use in various ways. One consideration I have though, is that the overall engagement level might not be as effective across all academic levels and grades.
How I Use It
As a burgeoning educator, I have not used this in a classroom setting so my input here will be purely speculative. I thought that the resources provided were excellent. There is quite a lot of material that can be incorporated by teachers in a variety of different ways. The guides even present a nice starting point by asking critical questions. These resources can be disseminated to students and utilized in a variety of ways, even if educators choose not to use the prompts or questions. For example, students could break off into groups, review the materials themselves and then collaboratively create their own project or assignment. They could then present this to their classmates and peers could provide constructive feedback.
