Radical Rhythm Review using Skitch!

My Take
I love Skitch and the kids really enjoy using it. It is a simple, user-friendly app that can be utilized for an entire lesson or in station rotations. I think Skitch is a great product. One thing that might enhance it's usability would be the addition of voice or audio recordings.
How I Use It
I use Skitch to reinforce students knowledge of rhythm. I have students snap a shot of a rhythm then write, circle, or verbally script a problem for their partner. Students then switch I-pads and complete their classmates "assignment" for them. I also use the app for guided practice. I will take a picture of the rhythm tree and ask students to circle a whole note, put a square around sixteenth notes, etc. Then we cast our answers or do individual spot checks for understanding. The kids love to make problems for each other! As extension exercises, I have students write musical word problems using rhythms, grab a picture of it using Skitch, then pass it to their partner to complete. The partner has to "show their work" and complete the word problem written by their classmate. Super fun!
