My Take
Seesaw is an essential app and tool for all teachers in every grade level you teach. The community of teachers sharing their lessons makes it a great place to get started for whatever lesson you are working on. The drawing tools, voice recording, video, and practice/assessment tools are engaging tools that allow teachers to see the students’ authentic thinking and learning progress. My parents love the precious moments saved! I love this app because it gives me a sense of my students’ progress!
How I Use It
I have used Seesaw for many years now. I have used it as a student digital portfolio to house students' work, student, and parent communication network, and as a way to check in on student's authentic thinking and get a feeling of student's understanding of the content taught. When I taught first graders, we used iPads and the app worked easily for first graders. My first graders loved to create a recording of themselves and use the drawing features. Whenever I had issues with it, I normally give Seesaw feedback and they are very responsive. When I taught third grade, the students used Chrome books and Seesaw worked well on those devices too. My third graders love to create videos. Before the Parent Square requirement at our site and during the Covid years, I used this tool as a student announcement and parent communication tool. I even used Seesaw for my coding and 3D printing classes, there are Seesaw Coding conceptual lessons. This year they have added Code.org content. Wow!!! Over the years and every year, Seesaw updated many features that make the app my first choice in any grade I teach, because they listen to their customers and update the app.
