My Take

I love Scratch as a teaching tool. Students can learn math, programming, basically helps with STEM. Students can get very creative, or, if they have trouble coming up with ideas can try to re-create something someone else already created. I haven't found a student yet who hasn't been excited about using Scratch!

How I Use It

I have used Scratch with 2nd-8th graders. With the younger kids, I taught them more specifically how Scratch works and led them through a couple of creations before letting them go on their own. With 7th-8th graders, I had them go through tutorials (if they had not used Scratch before) and then check out projects others had created I then had them come up with project ideas/proposals and then let them create away! They helped each other, learned from each other, and challenged each other to create amazing games and stories.
