My Take

Even though it took a little while for the students to get used to it, they all got on board by the end of the first week. I recommended Redbird to be fully implemented in our K-7th grades at our school. I have seen so much improvement in just a month. This program definitely surpasses all the other ones out there and I tried everything from Khan Academy (free) to the most expensive ones. I am going to recommend for our teachers to use Redbird as a supplementary source in addition to classroom instruction as the program allows for low performing students to practice and improve, for high achievers to move ahead quickly, and it works for average students as well.

How I Use It

We purchased access for a summer session class to Redbird for a month for each student. We wanted to evaluate Redbird before we signed up our entire elementary and lower middle school. I need to add that we tried several other online platforms as well to supplement mathematical learning. This one was the best by far. Not only was I able to see on what level each student was but also what they are struggling with - and could offer help - as well as how their progress was going. We had students who accelerated a grade or two ahead within a month (!) and we also had students who were struggling a great deal in their regular math classes and got the help they needed through this program. For example, I had a student in 7th grade who tested into 3rd grade math, and by the end of the month he passed 4th grade and was up to the middle of 5th grade. Overall, our school is very pleased:)
