My Take

This app is a nice display of USGS website information, but that's really all it is. You can display recent earthquakes on a map, click on them to get more information, and link to the USGS website. There's very little else to it. It would be great to have some more discovery activities, or supplemental information about plate boundaries or types of quakes. Without those, this seems like mostly a front-end to the USGS website.

How I Use It

It would be nice to have students use the location of quakes to trace plate boundaries; unfortunately, the plate boundary display lines are on by default. You could have students locate the most recent quakes near them, or the largest quake in the last week. There doesn't seem to be much that is not available on the USGS website, however.
