The tool integrates smoothly with Edmodo. Careful selection of and previewing of video takes a significant amount of teacher time, but the raised level of student engagement is worth it. Educanon provides teacher analytics on each question and student. The quality of the pedagogy depends upon the teacher. Another consideration is access to broadband. Streaming video for each students on 1:1 devices requires reliable broadband at school.
Want students to really think about YouTube videos? Try PlayPosit!
I like that PlayPosit lets you utilize (most) YouTube videos and that it allows you to write your own questions that pop up when students are watching the video. It adds a level of interactiveness that a worksheet on the side does not (actually physically pausing the video at just the right moment for reflection). The 'monitoring' or grading of the video is a little clunky, especially if you wanted to use it with a large class. Also, some videos won't upload and students experience the occasional glitch.
Great for stations, blended learning, and worked examples!
PlayPosIt is a great tool for the flipped or blended classroom. It is easy to set up and gives teachers necessary data while providing student accountability.
