My Take
This online app is only what you make it..... a wonderfully intuitive and easy to use blank slate. We have finally gotten into the chrome book, google accounts for all setup, so students are able to collaborate in whole new ways. It is still early for me/us, but it fits into an ongoing problem>solutions process we do. I envision many students latching on to this tool as a new way of starting and entering classroom 'conversations'.... which is huge!
I didn't rate it high with numbers only because it does not provide any content.
How I Use It
Start a pad with a question, problem, or challenge.... send it to individuals or teams via email invite (which we already do with google docs). I look forward to students picking up this work flow and becoming initiators of learning problems of interest..... taking charge while I go into the role of facilitator only.
While it can be a way to share work after it is done, I see it as particularly useful for brainstorming, and working through complex problems over time.
