My Take

I extend the usefulness of this website by having student read an article first, then they take a screen shot of the article and import the screen shot into the Explain Everything app on their iPads. They are required to read the article aloud using the record feature of EE. Then they explain a summary of the article. This extension exercise allows students to work on their oral language development and reading comprehension skills which are critical components of their overall literacy competency.

How I Use It

I use this website every week as part of my Close Reading language arts lesson. Students read the article that I assign and then they highlight the paragraph that explains the main idea of the article. I appreciate that students can change the reading level "on the fly" for each article and can take a quiz to check for reading comprehension.
