My Take

Many of the features are user-friendly, even for younger students. Some students say things like, "This is the best technology class ever!" and "Can we do this all the time!?" Other students get frustrated when Nearpod lags. I love the reports tool. However, I find that if a lesson takes more than one class period, there is no way that I know of to get back to where we were. Therefore, I have to send out a new link and put the two reports together. That's frustrating but not a deal-breaker. Overall, a great learning tool I can't wait to use more often.

How I Use It

The Common Sense Media bundles from Nearpod were great and well prepared. I like the ability to also add and create my own. Depending on the creation of the teacher, students are engaged and learn material. The student-sharing features are also helpful. I like how I lead the discussion--that way I can ensure that students don't rush through like they do with other interactive presentations that are student-led. Drawing features, polling options, and multiple choice/open ended questions are all features I want as an educator. It makes the lesson include all portions of gradual release as long as I am careful in my planning.
