My Take
My use of the results of this assessment is to have each student look at one strength and one weakness, learning more about that aspect of learning (using the well-written description on the Mindprint Learning website), and then give a report to the rest of the class on what they learned. It is incredibly empowering for struggling students to realize that there is a name for the way certain processes work, and that they have strengths as well as weaknesses. The more they learn about these differences, the more effectively they can begin to address them.
How I Use It
This is a screening tool to check for executive functioning skills deficits as well as other learning deficits. The student, using a computer with an internet connection, completes several tasks (which take about 45 minutes total) which detect processing speed, visual memory, verbal memory, attention and many sub-skills related to learning. The scores are reviewed by a licensed psychologist, and the report generated is extremely useful, written for parents (not in jargon). The follow-up activities and resources are truly amazing and helpful. This is a great first step if you suspect your student has a learning difference.
