My Take

I love using audiobooks to help struggling readers. They can be used to front-load students before reading a selection in class or they can be used as a re-read to help improve comprehension. Either way, English Learning students (and all students) can find success using audiobooks.

How I Use It

This is a great program for ALL students, but especially English Learners or Multilingual students. Particularly in the upper grades, comprehension is lost because students are still working with phonemic awareness and decoding words individually. The program has a large selection of audiobooks that students can listen to, while they read along with the text. Hearing the text read aloud will help them understand pronunciation and keep comprehension high, while they still develop phonemic reading skills
