Brings life back to quiz quizzes, checks for understanding, & collaborative learning
Community Review for Kahoot!
My Take
This game based quiz creation program takes stress out of timed questions. High School students love signing in; It even has lobby music! Create a nickname option allows for anonymity & teaming. Each question is set with its own countdown timer. Sound effects & the Leaderboard have great appeal. With iPads, the full-color screen buttons are easy targets for quick responses. Not only can I make my own questions but it connects to a borrow/lending community.Mandatory images are added to questions by you or by Kahoot. And it collates data immediately after the quiz.
How I Use It
I use this to check for understanding. For Current events questions, students love teaming, quickly shouting possible answers before picking the right one. I pause for news discussion; students love to talk about news in detail whether the answer is right or wrong. I use this for World History AP. Multiple choices questions can be hard due to content and question comprehension. Students need that experience of timed responses but also time to determine the meaning of words, phrases as they are used in the text (RL.11-12.4). I like that the nickname allows students to either be teams or stand alone as individuals.
