My Take

There are two elements of Haiku Deck that truly appreciate. First, Haiku Deck limits how much text a student can put on each of their slides. I work diligently with students to keep the presentation of deeper ideas to their oral output, keeping long chunks of text out of their slides. This feature of Haiku Deck truly helps facilitate that ethic. Second, Haiku Deck helps you find Creative Commons licensed images for your presentations. When you type a word or words on your slides you can have Haiku Deck search for images for you. The images that Haiku Deck serves up are large enough to completely fill your slide. You can also upload your own images from your iPad or import images from Instagram and Facebook.

How I Use It

What I have enjoyed so much about Haiku Deck from the first time I used it with students is that its design tools help to focus students on telling a story with pictures and really knowing their material instead of relying on large chunks of text on slides. The integrated image search includes Creative Commons licensed images to help students find pictures that match their stories.
