Fun way to interact with students about books they're reading!
Community Review for Goodreads
My Take
Students struggle to find books that they like and Goodreads addresses that struggle really nicely. I have found that even my best readers can get in a reading rut by reading the same types of books over and over. This website allows them to search others' lists of favorites, ask for suggestions based on past books they've read, or just browse by genre.
How I Use It
My AP Language students all create Goodreads accounts and we share our past and current favorite reads that way. I started using this in my classroom on accident. A student asked if I had an account and when she discovered I didn't, she insisted I create one. The website slowly spread that year and now I begin the year by asking students to create accounts. It is an excellent way to keep them motivated to read and help them find books that they might be interested in reading.
