My Take
I love what iCivics produces... game-based learning that engages students!
How I Use It
I have each student create an avatar and individually play Executive Command (in the computer lab or at home) in my U.S. History classroom when we get to the responsibilities of the executive branch. After presenting basic content, I allow the student to play the role of President. In a fast-paced, fun game iCivics has students simultaneously manage foreign and domestic affairs while reaching out to Congress and setting an agenda for the nation. The game can be replayed over and over again with different results. Most importantly, it leads to great post-game discussions the following class period.
