My Take

My overall opinion of Ed Puzzle is very high. I feel that it is a powerful tool that brings video, music, literature, and effective assessment tools together resulting in a creative and powerful way to convey authors and literature. It can also be given as an independent assignment or can be conducted in "live mode" during class time. One thing I think could be improved is synching the grading for the assignment with the teacher's grading platform. In terms of TPACK, Ed Puzzle enhances effective teaching with technology, requiring an understanding of the representation of concepts using technology. Ed Puzzle uses assessment in constructive ways to teach content. Ed Puzzle would fall within the augmentation level of SAMR, allowing for individual and independent learning and assessment using a technological tool.

How I Use It

I have used Ed puzzle in the classroom and have found it to be very effective. I have used Ed puzzles when learning about authors. Ed puzzle use effective videos and assessment questions and are shared by educators far and wide. You can also create your own Ed puzzles as well. One feature I really like is that it doesn't allow students to fast forward and requires them to complete it. It also has the option of allowing for closed captioning for students who are hearing impaired. One thing I think could be improved is synching the grade for the assignment with Blackbaud, the grading platform I use. At this point, I have to go into Ed Puzzle separately and grade the assignment and then go back to Blackbaud and input the grades.
