My overall opinion is this project would be a hood investment. With the level of engagment needing to be incredibly high for early childhood, this takes care of that issue. However, it would need to be used sparingly since it may get old after a while if continued use every day. The kids would benefit greatly because the only practice they get is at school, having the ability to practice more at home would be very helpful.

I found this app to be engaging, with most of the students enjoying the motion, sound and animation. For some of the students as the letter formation became harder it became frustrating . However, the students just put it down and would come back to it on another day. This app offers another avenue for practicing letter formation with gentle guides to help in their learning.

A simple app with lots of great settings to help your students with letter formation. Some of my favorite settings are being able to select our Districts handwriting curriculum, in the reports you see a recording of formation strokes and you are able to customize a list of your own words. The students love working on Writing Wizard. Their favorite part is the animation while tracing the letters.

I think it is a great beginning of the year app for kindergartners and/or special needs for 1st/2nd. I found that the letter formation exercise were aligned to how I teach letter formation. It served the purpose for what I intended - introduce students to swipes, writing on iPad, on/off, home button, double tap on home to see "open" apps and then closing out an open app as well as self-control and responsibility. It seems like an expensive app in light of what is out there, but to my surprise the children (at least some) would still go back to it throughout the year.

This is a great app for early learners. One of my favorite parts as a teacher would be the reports piece. It actually plays the recording of the activity done by the user. There is an option for multiple user profiles for easy record keeping. This is a very user-friendly app that I highly recommend! The reports piece allows you to track progress and export a report via email.

I think this app is worth purchasing if you're investing in 1:1 iPads, but you might want to consider what grade at which it becomes too easy and not worth the investment? I like that the app has colorful interactive screens to make practicing over and over more motivating for kids. I'm not impressed with the sound effects, but kids are pretty compliant with our instructions to mute the iPad when told to and if the teacher wanted to take time to adjust the settings, they could be turned off all together. I love that personalized word lists can be added to writing practice options, but it would be nice if the teacher could somehow "push" those lists out to each app through a web-based account that was tied to each iPad. As it is, students enter the words themselves...this can be good practice, but it does allow for some margin of error when entering words....which can lead to words being practiced incorrectly.

This is a great app to kill two birds with one stone. It is a great handwriting app because it records what tracing the kids are doing so you can go in and look at what a student has done on the app. It also forces them to form the letters correctly. The other great thing about this app it is customizable to your student's needs. I can't say enough about this app. It is great.
