nostalgic and great practice
it's overall a great teaching tool that is heavily nostalgic. I remember even using this tool to practice typing myself. Curating this as a game also helps make it more engaging for students as they can focusing on taking a task that might be seen as mundane and turning into a competitive way of improving a life long useful skill. I think as a typing tool it is very good for practice but it doesn't qualify as something that leans into a critical thinking exercise.

TypicClub is a fun and interesting way to practice typing.
The website offers different lesson difficulties starting at easy and then progressing to more and more difficult. This is beneficial when teaching someone how to type the correct way from scratch. There are also different modes that just have plain typing sentences for those who already know how to type properly. There is something for everyone.

LyricType is a fun, fast-paced music typing game where you can improve typing skills
What I Like:
Engagement: It’s a fun way to combine typing practice with music, making a typically monotonous task more enjoyable for students. The use of popular songs keeps students motivated and can cater to different musical tastes.
Competitive Element: The built-in scoring and competitive aspect can drive students to improve their skills, encouraging repetition and improvement.
What I Didn’t Like:
Distraction Risk: While music adds fun, it can also become a distraction, especially if students focus more on the song than their typing.
Limited Depth for Advanced Typists: It’s great for beginners or intermediate typists, but it might not provide enough challenge for students who already type at high speeds.
Overall: LyricType is a creative way to improve typing skills, but balancing fun and focus would be key in a classroom setting.

Fun and Addictive!
There were many varied curricula to choose from, and the lessons were fun and engaging. The difficulty increases as you go, but you can customize if your students are ahead/behind the presets. The app also gives statistics, so if your class is competitive, you can really keep them interested by creating a "fastest", "most lessons completed", or "most improved" leaderboard. Teachers told me that in other classes, when students were done with their work, they'd start doing Typing Club! Instead of picking up their phones, students were choosing Typing Club. I feel like that really says it all.

Great tool
I also love how it tracks the time it takes the students to type, thus they can slowly see their improvements in typing over time, gaining confidence. Ultimately, I believe this is a great tool. Learning how to type is essential for students of any age! Thus making it fun allows them to enjoy learning hand placement, typing , etc. Visuals are amazing.

Simple, visually appealing, and motivational!
This resource seems great for daily/weekly typing lessons and motivating students to keep learning. With the simple yet colorful visuals, it's noticeably appealing for youth learners. I enjoy the "GOOD JOB!" at the end of each module, and the statistics for accuracy and words per minute with scores are great for educators to understand their learners' performance. What I find very helpful especially for learners are the badges that can help motivate them to keep practicing their typing and be rewarded for their efforts. Not a fan of any advertisements on the free version especially when learners may be young. Accessibility wise I'm glad that there's plenty of languages for the overall website and captions so this program can cater to a global audience with over 600 lessons.

As someone who never learned to type properly in elementary school, I would absolutely recommend this website! I enjoy its step by step approach to introduce the different keys and its use of self managed and timed activities to teach you
I love the approach it takes to typing by teaching one key at a time. My only problem with it was that its introduction video/lesson were hard to start because the ads kept blocking them. I had to skip the intro video to actually start, but after that it was smooth sailing

Definitely a simple and yet motivating way for anyone either starting to type or those looking to increase their typing speed. Motivates with its feedback and rewards with golden stickers and advancement of levels.
As a teaching tool it is visually appealing, while still being interactive. It's a tool that anyone can benefit from to improve their typing or just starting out. You can see real time feedback and stats on how you are doing along the courses all while rewarding you with points and stickers to keep you motivated and going.
