Great collaborative resource for older students!
I absolutely love how easy the resource is to use. I feel that besides just for school assignments, students who like to read books on their own could use the resource to be able to collaborate with others by sharing their opinions and reading those of others who have read the same book!

Connecting Teens to a Supportive Writing and Artistic Community
I love this site as a teaching tool. It has so many potential uses - as a forum for sharing student work, to allow students to post book reviews, to connect students with like minded teens across the globe, and to allow students to interact with contemporary authors. Teen Ink is one of my favorite teaching tools. It has stood the test of time with me and I am constantly uncovering new ways to share the site with the teens I have the pleasure of working with on a daily basis.

Great site for students to post reviews!
I love this site. It encourages students to be active readers and requires them to think about what they read in order to write their reviews. Students use this site to get recommendations of what to read next when they're in need of a good book!

An Authentic Audience for Teen Writers
Teen Ink is a great option for students who are trying to gain experience in publishing their writing. Submitted material disappears into the Teen Ink void and may or may not be stumbled upon by other teens to review. Additionally, Teen Ink becomes full owner of any submitted work, which might teach students important lessons about propriety and copyright, although those lessons might not necessarily be in the student's favor. The idea of getting tons of open feedback on your work is a cool concept, but there is no way of knowing who is sending the feedback and whether or not your appreciate their opinion or perspective.

A supportive writing community for budding writers.
TeenInk is a wonderful place for budding writers to go to find like minds who also like to write. They can publish their work, get feedback on what they write--in the process learning how to give and take feedback themselves--and in general, accelerate their development as writers by spending time in an online space that also values the written word. They also have a wonderful printed magazine where "best work" gets published.

Provides an authentic audience for student creations
Students will like Teen Ink; they can post their writing, art, pictures, and videos to share with the Teen Ink community. The site contains polls, forums, contests and other ""swag"" that seems to appeal to high schoolers as well. Teachers may be of another mind for a couple of reasons: the first is that the site is fairly wide-open.Any one can post pretty much anything of any quality. As a former English teacher, I expected to find fabulous teen writing to share with my students under the editors' picks banner. Let's just say I'm not quite sure what the qualifications were for picking a work. The essays I perused were not as well-written as I would like to see considering they were ""editor's choice"" winners.
Secondly, the site is fairly commercial; pop-up ads occur with alarming frequency. I felt as though the site's purpose was to sign me up for the print version of Teen Ink. Additionally, while I (as a librarian) was doing research for a 1920's pathfinder--a list of resources for a research paper--I was repeatedly directed to a Teen Ink link for a student paper. This leads me to wonder if the non-fiction pieces posted on the site are ""used"" (euphemism--plagiarized) for other research projects.
All in all, I felt like Teen Ink is like that kid who desperately wants to fit in with the group--so it offers to do everything in order to prove its worth. From college advice to summer camp opportunities, this site has it all (and you can shop at its store). Teen Ink gives students a place to post their art and writing; I'm just wondering if there isn't something better out there.
