LESSON
When Hate Escalates
How do we respond to hate, harassment, and discrimination online?
Online hate rarely stays small. What begins as an offhand comment can quickly transform into targeted harassment and widespread discrimination. This lesson challenges students to examine the ripple effects of hate online and the personal dilemmas of speaking up. Students will grapple with a scenario, confronting the often invisible line between bystander and upstander, and exploring what it truly means to stand against online hate when doing so comes with real social risks.
